Quantanite Celebrates
International Women’s Day

By Quantanite | March 2021

Today, international holidays and celebrations extend far beyond Christmas, Halloween and New Year’s Eve. Numerous different squares in our calendars are dedicated to discussing key issues and celebrating societal achievements.

They are not always easy to take seriously. The first Saturday of February is typically known as ‘Ice Cream for Breakfast Day’ for example…. ironically followed by ‘World Toothache Day’ on 9 February.

Yet many such days have become global events that provide an opportunity to celebrate progress and raise awareness.

Arguably, none is more important than International Women’s Day.

At Quantanite, we are delighted to take the opportunity to highlight the incredible value of our female employees and recognize the contributions of women globally.

We know just how vitally important it is that women are a core part of our workforce. By providing men and women the same rights, resources and opportunities, we’re both able to play our part in furthering this critically important agenda while also helping our business to thrive.

Research suggests that improving gender equality could lead to an increase in GDP per capita by between 6.1% and 9.6% come 2050. In the EU alone, this would amount to a rise increase of up to £2.72 trillion.

Much like education and labor market policies, gender equality offers tremendous economic benefits. Meanwhile, those businesses that discriminate are ultimately at a disadvantage:

Research shows organizations with greater diversity among executive teams tend to have higher profits and better long-term value.
• Inclusive teams make better business decisions up to 87% of the time.
• Companies with low rates of both gender and racial diversity are 29% more likely to make less money.

For Quantanite, it isn’t about the numbers – that’s the added bonus. We are committed to fostering an equal environment for all people regardless of gender, race, religion, identity, or other status, to ensure that all of our people know their contributions are recognized and valued.

We stick by our company values. They have been ingrained in our culture from day one and equality truly matters to us. That is why we’ve virtually eliminated the gender pay gap and, in many cases, gone even further with women leading the charge on many fronts of our business.

This year’s International Women’s Day campaign theme is #ChooseToChallenge,
the core message of which is that through challenge comes change. While March 8 will again be a chance to collectively celebrate the achievements of women around the world, it will also be an opportunity to promote a more inclusive world by taking action for equality and raising awareness against bias.

Speaking on this theme, Mikko Tamminen, Chairman and CEO of Quantanite said:

#ChooseToChallenge is a fantastic message for this year’s campaign.

We live in a time where the pandemic has taken the spotlight away from many
fantastic global initiatives, but key political, social and economic issues such as
gender inequality remain prevalent and shouldn’t be ignored.”

“It can be tempting to stay quiet, but through challenge comes change and with
change we experience progress in equality and fairness – something we should all
strive for together.”
